It’s 4 a.m., and Karen Dancer is already preparing for a busy day. Dancer has one of her many active home buyers flying in to view homes in El Dorado Hills, and she is already logged into the MLS looking for suitable listings for her client who is anxious to find a home.
“So far in 2018, home buyer interest has definitely intensified,” said Dancer, Realtor at RE/MAX Gold. “My buyers all expect that this is the year mortgage rates will finally rise. They also seem to have more confidence in their outlook on the economy. My biggest challenge is finding them homes as there isn’t much in the way of inventory on the market right now. Home buyers today want a home that they can move into and enjoy right away. They are generally passing on homes that have outdated features.
“Another motivation for buyers over 55 is that Prop 90 is expiring later this year. Prop 90 allows anyone who meets the requirements to transfer the base year value from an original residence in any other county to a replacement residence here in El Dorado County,” she said.
“With that said, I’ve been representing an increasing number of buyers in the purchase of brand new homes,” Dancer continued. “My buyers see the value of having an experienced realtor advocating on their behalf during the entire process. I’ve gained a lot of working knowledge of the products that builders are offering and feel like I can really help get my clients into just the right home at the right price. Many of our clients are looking to downsize and are attracted to the benefits of owning a new home that is energy efficient and low maintenance with the latest technology.”
Dancer joined the Barnes Real Estate Team in 2016, and as sales manager, she works with sellers as well as buyers. “When it comes to listing homes for sale, she is an incredible asset to our team,” said Jim Barnes, realtor with RE/MAX Gold and marketing manager for the Barnes Real Estate Team.
Since teaming up with the Barnes RE/MAX Gold Team, Dancer has quietly become one of the top producing real estate agents in El Dorado Hills ranking among the top five resale agents in the area.
Dancer’s customer service is second to none. Her dedication to finding the perfect home for each buyer and achieving the absolute best results for each seller, her tireless persistence to see the transaction through, and her integrity and negotiation skills are some of the many qualities that allow her to develop and maintain lifelong relationships with her clients.
Dancer grew up in Granite Bay and now lives in the Bridlewood Canyon Community in El Dorado Hills. Her interest in real estate started early when she took her first real estate class at 18 years of age. Her background in residential development and management helped make her transition to the real estate industry a seamless one. She started her career as vice president of a real estate development company, overseeing their new home sales division, interior design center, and property management division and contributing to the land acquisition and product development teams. She has since worked extensively with sellers, buyers and investors.
“Karen brings her extensive experience working with buyers in the field to help our listing clients understand what buyers are looking for and how they can help get their homes market ready,” Barnes said.

It seems to me that so many Real Estate Agents today are flying by the seat of their pants associating themselves with small independent brokerages in an effort to avoid higher National Franchise broker commission splits. In a highly regulated California real estate environment, it’s possible that if an agent stubs their toe, it could trigger a major lawsuit that could involve the seller and the broker. My clients have the backing of the number one real estate franchise in the world! RE/MAX.
